The problem with confusion is that if they did use the d10 rules from 5e, then it ends up being a 40% chance that they still attack you if you're nearby. I think on one of the rat hoard fights in the game like under the tavern you could get a large enough sample size to see if it really is a 20% chance for them to attack the nearest creature. You'd be able to hit every single rat, and they would all fail the saving throw, then just count what they all do. I always thought that it was just a 1/4 for them to act as normal, and a 1/4 for everything else too.

Very cool guide, thank you! It definitely made shadowheart a lot better. Interestingly the very next fight was defending the portal for Halsin and she really was the mvp for running around with spirit guardian and killing small enemies, and then turn dead helped a lot with the bigger ones :)

Harm is pretty good if you wanted to non-lethal a foe.

I know you said you didnt want people to really put down classes, but I feel this is important. I REALLY want to enjoy Valor Bard, and the core gameplay is fantastic and fun, but the bug with Combat Inspiration just ruins it for me. For those that dont know, the bug is where an attack spends the "combat" half of the inspiration, but leaves behind the effects of the original bardic inspiration. Because theyre still technically inspired, you cant give the same character combat inspiration again till they use a skill check to spend it. To me, its enough of an issue to be warned about it before picking the class.

I felt the bull was very intuitive and straight forward, same thing with the Golem. Much more so than the cyborg.

This build seems amazing. I've never used a bard before in BG3. I've been missing out clearly. Going to run this in my next playthrough for sure. :D

You mention sometimes that you’re drawn to game mechanics that convert one stat to another (black decks in MTG, etc) but I only just realized that that’s basically all Brotato is - the money is just the fungible facilitator of stat conversion! That’s neat. Big fan, really appreciate ya!

I think the air myrmidon is very underrated being that it has a huge silence tornado move, being the all of the elementals can teleport This is extremely effective at locking down spellcasters

@Cephalopocalypse The tardigrade should work with blood donation/bloody hand/ etc... because it says "damage from the first hit" and those arent hits per se, and at least on mobile it works that way

Paladin 2 Sword Bard 10 is with out a doubt the strongest build in the game for me. The amount of damage you have with your smites is just absurd and with hold person you can double all of that as well. So you missed the strongest build imo At least its way better then Lockadin because it has full spell progression way more spell slots to burn for smites and way more utility with the sword bard flurishes.

One thing that makes me like Magic Initiate: it gives my wizard, Gale, access to the warlock spells, "Armour of Agathys" & "Eldritch Blast" while still keeping him monoclassed, for weirdos like me who prefer that, over multiclassing (e.g. for the Abjuration Wizard Tank build). ^.^ Update: Unfortunately, one quicksaved respec on Gale later, and while you *can* get those spells that way, you also aren't able to actually upcast Armour of Agathys; you only get the level 1 version of it from that feat. D: I'd normally be against multiclassing into my playthroughs, but I'd likely make an(other) exception here, if only because one of my biggest concerns with Multiclassing is the loss of feats...but this one confirmed, in fact, to be a net loss, even with that in mind. >.<* Or, if I want to remain a mono classed wizard, I'd just take either another ASI, and, if Gale's INT is already maxxed out, I'd either put it into CON, DEX, or WIS, for max health/concentration saving throws, initiative/armor class/saving throws, or saving tthrows, respectively. Or Warcaster if I feel he needs to be concentrating on spells a lot harder.

Always take Thunderwave! ;-) I just finished the fight with Orin and I used Thunderwave to push four of her Sanctuaried attendants off the ledge. It's also excellent for killing Scrying Eyes.

Conjure woodland being is S tier for the simple fact that casting it makes your entire party immune to difficult terrain, restrain, AND paralyzed.

I love Eldritch knight. My favorite build is 11 fighter - 1 war cleric. This lets you have bonus action attacks before you get level 7 and lets you function as a ranged holy warrior if you don’t have a radiant orb cleric in your party. Eldritch knight uses special arrows better than anyone else, so divine favor + arrow of many targets makes a very powerful damage dealer and support by being able to hit every enemy on the field with radiant damage applying radiating orb and/or reverberation (which Eldritch strike gives disadvantage on the prone save btw)

Always feels tragic that monk needs to spend a Ki point and bonus action to do what rogues do with just a bonus action

Hah, I chuckled when I heard true strike takes concentration. Obviously I never used it, so I never noticed it. They took the worst, most useless cantrip in the game, and made it use one of the most important resources xD
